Intruders in Taibreamh

Fitheach Eun:  "It's a lovely evening, mo run. I like to visit the grove this time of day; it seems very peaceful."

Can Wobbit laces his fingers into the druid’s.

Fitheach Eun squeezes his hand.

Fitheach Eun: "I like the way the moon glows on the water."

Can Wobbit: "It’s a very lovely evening, mo Ghra , and there is nothing I would prefer better than enjoying the peace of the grove with you tonight."

Fit and Can in the Grove
Can Wobbit slowly walks towards the bridge.

Fitheach Eun jumps as an excited undine pops up in the waterfall pool.

Can Wobbit  notices Fit´s sudden movement; “What´s wrong, my heart ?”

The undine shouts: "Lady druid, there are evil men landing a boat by the bridge!"

Fitheach Eun walks over to the undine: "How many of them are there?" The undine squeaks: “Three.”

Can Wobbit looks at the druid in wonder "Who are you talking to ? I cannot see anyone near?”

Fitheach Eun: "Thank you, my small sister, we may need more help from you."

Fitheach Eun turns to Can, "The undine says there are evil men landing a boat near the bridge; three of them."

Undine
Fitheach Eun looks at Can in surprise: "Can't you see her?"

Can Wobbit widens his eyes "That´s bad news indeed."

Can Wobbit: “And no, I can´t ... but I heard a faint splashing by the water.”

Fitheach Eun smiles; “It is one of my small water sisters come to warn us."

Can Wobbit turns to Fitheach " You´ll stay here, by the undine ... and I will try to climb up the rocks, spying on them, and see it with my own eyes. I will be back as soon as I have learned more.”

Fitheach Eun moves towards the bridge; " Yes, mo run but be careful. I am going to raise some fog to obscure their path.."

Can Wobbit cautiously starts climbing up, making no sound. He thinks to himself and grins   "sometimes there´s something good in having no boots on."

Fitheach Eun stares at the pool in concentration and calls on the air spirits: "Sylphs of the air and undines of water, bring a dense fog to cover this land and hide us from the intruders."

Fit and the Sylph
Can Wobbit reaches the top of the rocks, near the old watchtower and peeps over the rim ... down towards the bridge.

Fitheach Eun makes fog boil up out of the groves and spread, hiding everything and making the air heavy and visibility limited.

Can Wobbit sees the intruders heading for the old road that leads to the elven castle and crawls back, to join Fit again.

Fitheach Eun sees the fog spread and small dancing lights appear here and there within it.

Can Wobbit: "They are heading for the castle, mo Ghra," Can whispers  taking some breath ...”Can you lead the fog there? They need to use the bridge, by the Troll."

Sylphs appear floating about with tiny lights awaiting orders.

Fitheach Eun smiles; "Yes I can do that."

Fitheach Eun concentrates on the billowing fog, thinning it where the path to the bridge is.

Can Wobbit exhales.

Fitheach Eun whispers to the sylphs: "Sisters of the air, take your lights and lead these men towards the bridge, but beware the troll."

Fitheach Eun: The dancing lights flutter off and appear winking by the path to the troll bridge.

Can Wobbit takes a shortcut to reach the far end of the bridge, before the intruders will be there and hides in the bushes and trees that grow near.

Can Wobbit sees the fog getting denser and denser there and the dancing lights coming nearer.

Fitheach Eun concentrates on controlling the fog so only the path to the bridge can be seen and watches the stumbling marauders through the eyes of the sylphs.

Can Wobbit stares intently at the bridge ... sees the first shadows appear and wishes the fog would hide the end of the bridge totally.

Can Wobbit sees one of the dancing lights come close to him ...he looks at it and suddenly he begins to speak to it slowly, and low, whispering: "I ask you for your help, little light, whoever you may be."

Can Wobbit: "Please."

The small light dances closer and a tiny voice says: "Speak human, we will help our lady druid."

Can Wobbit: "Can you make the fog as thick, so they cannot see anything, as soon as they have crossed the bridge, little light ?"

The sylph answers, " No but our lady can, I will go to her." The light darts away quickly.

Fitheach Eun is focused on holding the fog and is startled when one of the sylphs appears suddenly.

Can Wobbit waits hopefully , and collects  several small stones laying around nearby.

The tiny creatures speaks: "My lady, your human wishes the fog to thicken at the bridge so the intruders cannot see."

Can Wobbit hides deeper in the thickets.

Fitheach Eun takes a deep breath and works on the fog making it thicker and thicker at the bridge obscuring the ends.

Can Wobbit hears the rough voices of the intruders crossing the bridge now … complaining about the fog and the loss of sight.

Can Wobbit: They use a strange tongue ... but he can hear and understand fragments.

The fog now totally covers most of the bridge.

Fog Covers the Bridge
Can Wobbit hears them talk about walking closer together and finding the way by using their hands on the railing.

Can Wobbit waits patiently till they have crossed the bridge and then throws one of the pebbles into a bush near the cliffs.

Fitheach Eun continues to hold the fog, but her energy is fading and she fears it will dissipate soon.

Can Wobbit: The marauders stop ... debating , having heard the rustling sound of the stone hitting the bush ... and head towards where the sound came from.

Can Wobbit keeps throwing pebbles ... listening, and hearing the voices follow the sounds.

Can Wobbit thinks they must be at the edge of the cliff soon.

Fitheach Eun starts to lose some of the fog and concentrates on the bridge.

Can Wobbit suddenly hears the voices panic .. and sounds of sliding rock and falling bodies … screams of panic. And finally three loud splashes and silence.

Fitheach Eun loses control of the fog and collapses to sit on the ground as it thins and blows away.

Can Wobbit sees the fog fade away, and runs towards the grove leaving the intruders to themselves and their fate.

Can Wobbit arrives at the grove  and gasps, seeing  the druid sitting on the ground.

Fitheach Eun smiles weakly up at Can; "I am okay, mo run, just exhausted."

Can Wobbit kneels down beside her, stroking her cheek.

Fitheach Eun smiles; "That was a good idea leading them off the cliff."

Fitheach Eun says “ Let's just sit here and enjoy the grove again? I will tell the Aran tomorrow.”
