Fit Finds the Dead Farmer

Fitheach Eun wanders down the long steps from her home in Calenhad, heading for market and hoping to find some dinner.

Fitheach Eun: Nearing the bridge, she smells the odor of burned vegetation and wonders who was making a fire here.

Fitheach Eun: Suddenly she rounds the turn where the trees thin out and everything is blackened and charred

Fitheach Eun stops in shock and surveys the damaged area, shaking her head sadly; "A forest fire? Perhaps there was a thunderstorm."

Fitheach Eun hastens her steps thinking to tell the rangers so they can check to be sure it had burned out.

Fitheach Eun: Continuing over the bridge and along the path past the farm she feels a chill, like a premonition.

Fitheach Eun: Ahead next to the path is a dark blob on the ground.

Fitheach Eun comes up next to the blob and realizes it is the body of one of the farmers but it looks smaller and crumpled.

Fitheach Eun: Rolling it over she see a great puncture wound in the neck and springs to her feet running for town.

Fitheach Eun: Charging into the market she looks around wildly for the Druid.

Kathena Mavendorf sits up and quickly changes into the clean clothes that were fetched from her vardo. Allie, the nurse, rushes over. "And what do you think you are doing out of bed Miss Kathena?" she asks, her hands on her hips with a look of disapproval on her face..

Kathena Mavendorf puts on her shoes, looks up at her with her usual stubbornness, "I'm leaving...that should be obvious!"

Kathena Mavendorf ALLIE: "Now Miss....you know the Master Druid gave strict instructions for you to stay in bed until you were fully recovered!"

Kathena Mavendorf laughs, "the Master Druid should be used to me not following his instructions by now" finishes braiding her hair and stands...a bit wobbly at first, but she straightens up and makes her way to the door. She looks back at Allie, who looks completely stunned, "Thank you for tending to me." then walks out the door.

Kathena Mavendorf smiles and nods to the guards, "Gentlemen.." then walks right past them

Jaekob Faolan pales as he see the man, crumpled on the ground. He quickly kneels down beside him, his fingers touching the wounds on his neck. A shiver runs through him, "Fit, his neck is broken and he...he has the same marks as Kat. This is the Demon's work."

Fitheach Eun: "I thought as much; that is why I came for you."

Jaekob Faolan looks around, "We must have the rangers remove him, perhaps to Calenhad until we can inspect this further. I am remiss to tell anyone just yet."

Fitheach Eun nods in agreement; we do not want to panic everyone.

Fitheach Eun: "I will find a ranger."

Jaekob Faolan: "No, of course not. And its a good thing I..... Well, I visited the smith recently and gave him instrusction to make special blades of use a druid symbol on the steel.. We....we... will need them now."

Jaekob Faolan nods, "If you will have the body moved, I need to go see the forests that have burned."

Fitheach Eun raise my eyebrows questioningly: "Special blades?"

Jaekob Faolan nods, *I do not know a lot of demons, but some are affected by holy symbols."

Fitheach Eun: Ah and that is why  the runes?

Fitheach Eun: "I will locate the rangers; you will find the burn on the other side of the bridge."

Jaekob Faolan nods and tries to smile a bit, "We need every advantage when we go for him. And go for him we will. But this time he will die or be banished back to the Nine Hells from whence he came."

Fitheach Eun nods again: "Yes he cannot be allowed to kill any more of our people."

Jaekob Faolan nods and moves quickly down the path toward Calenad.
