Jaekob Chats with Evienne DuLac ~ New Fairy in tRLs

Evienne and the Crystal Unicorn
Jaekob Faolan: Welcome Evienne!
How about starting our chat with some insight into how you ended up in tRLs?

Evienne DuLac: Thank you, Jaekob. You've made me feel so welcome here since the first day I arrived to explore the River Lands.
I am a SL-veteran and was also a Fae there, among other things! My role was a petite Fae for a long time.
But I also love the open grid and stumbled across River City through hypergrid.com. I was curious and quickly enchanted by the region and was made to feel welcome from my first visit here and the GCG is such a warmhearted grid.

Jaekob Faolan: We have talked a bit and I know what you are looking for in a roleplay community. But, would you mind telling our readers what type of environment you are seeking.

Evienne DuLac: Playing a role which leans heavily on its solitary character, I prefer a roleplay community that caters for those who like to roleplay in groups, at regular events like your Market Day but also allows for solo RP action, where each can develop their character and provide insight into what makes them tick. I find that solo RPs are the perfect opportunity to open new storylines, sometimes that may give others the opportunity to jump in and become a part of it. It can be quite dynamic.
I like the way that everyone interested in roleplaying is welcome in the River Lands and others are willing to give newcomers time and any help they need to decide upon their role and feel at home here.

Jaekob Faolan: You are a Fae here. Tell our readers a little about your character.
Evienne at the Tower
Evienne DuLac: The Fae are often thought of in a very limited way, in my experience. They are often either the fun-loving, trickster Tinkerbell/Puck types, or otherwise man eating seductresses.
But the tradition of Faeries has a long history, dating well back before medieval times! The Irish worshipped the Tuatha de Danaan, a folk with magical powers who were believed to have once ruled Eire, but disappeared underground (basis for the mythical Otherworld).
Later poets and writers from Chaucer to Shakespeare to Disney(!) crafted their own version of the Fae, tiny or tall, winged or with pointy ears, naughty or nice. Through each period in history, creatures mostly associated with superstitions, were often "transformed" into members of the increasingly diverse Faerie race.

Jaekob Faolan: And how would you describe your character?

Evienne DuLac: Evienne is heavily based on the Lady of the Lake from the Arthurian Legends. Enchantresses were gradually also termed Fae in medieval times, such as Queen Morgan Le Fay, King Arthur's rival. The Lady of the Lake was protectress of waterways (possibly a minor goddess), but the legends tell us that she was a young woman who the aging Merlin fell in love with. He taught her magic and she became so powerful that she managed to trap Merlin in a tree, robbing him of his last powers, until he faded away.
Later in the tales, she was stepmother to Lancelot and helped him on numerous occasions.
Evienne is a solitary Fae. She has no family clan, although she does not shun the Trooping Faery (those who live in an ordered Fae-clan society). She is more akin to the Flower Faerie with a strong connection to the natural elements. She dwells where water flows and acts as guardian over rivers, fountains, waterfalls, etc. She can be highly unpredictable, benevolent or malevolent,  depending on how she is treated... like most Fae.

Jaekob Faolan: Evienne, I am thoroughly delighted with our talk and your plans for your character. I so look forward to us sitting soon and chatting further. Jaek ICly has never been overly fond of the fairies, but listening to you, he may be swayed too reconsider.
Thank you Evi and I look forward to meeting you ICly when my journey (move) is finished.

Evienne DuLac: The interview was a pleasure and I look forward to further exploring the River Lands community regions and meeting and roleplaying with the other citizens
