Jaekob Faolan cocks his head at the door, "It is open, my Druid sister. No need to knock at the infirmary door.
Fitheach Eun walks in and smiles at the druid.
Jaekob and Fitheach |
Jaekob Faolan: "Fit, how wonderful to see you, vedui."
Jaekob Faolan nods, "What are these um rumours hmmm?
Fitheach Eun raises my eyebrows and crosses my arms; "Vedui, my lord."
Fitheach Eun: "Rumors that you took off alone to Mirkwood after that cat..."
Fitheach Eun: Alone? With all those spiders Saphira saw?
Jaekob Faolan: "Oh that," he says waving a hand through the air. "It is true enough, but there was no reason not to go. I had wanted to meet with the King in Mirkwood anyway, so it was.... well.... partly a social visit," he smiles.
Fitheach Eun: "If I was not sure that Ame must have already given you an earful..."
Jaekob Faolan rubs a hand on his cheek, "Oh I got an earful or two," grins.
Fitheach Eun: "Right, a social visit....I'm sure you just chatted away the afternoon with the elven king."
Fitheach Eun shakes her head sadly; " Why are you always trying to get yourself killed?"
Fitheach Eun: "Did you?" More importantly; did you succeed?"
Jaekob Faolan nods, "Well there was a bit of a scrap with some of the giant spiders that abode there. But, as luck would have it, Saphira showed up and was able to look in the Unseelie's abode and rescued the cat. Right now, he is in the safe keeping of the Mages in the Citadel."
Fitheach Eun looks severe again; " A bit of a scrap?" "So you did nearly get yourself killed again? And without us to help?"
Jaekob Faolan: "I said nothing about getting myself nearly killed. it was a dozen or so spiders with no magic. I got a scrape is all,: he says emphatically.
Fitheach Eun sighs; " All right I give up; how is the cat?"
Jaekob Faolan: "Anyway, I am returned, safe and sound as you can see. Though the cat is in dire need. It seems the Unseelie removed the cat's collar. And the collar is what keeps him a cat, but without it, he will soon perish."
Fitheach Eun: "Oh dear; what can we do to help him?"
Fitheach Eun: "Are there any potions that would sustain him until we can find the collar?"
Jaekob Faolan: "You might look in on him at the Citadel. The Mages have him for safe keeping and I did leave some potions to give him. But whether the curse will revert in a day or two or even a few weeks, I have no idea. But when he comes to be a man again, he will die as he is decades old."
Fitheach Eun: " But if he continues as a cat he will survive?"
Jaekob Faolan: "I left a couple of rejuvenation potions, but I am not certain that is what is needed. The mages are pouring through old books to find something to help us."
Jaekob Faolan: "The collar will keep him alive, yes. That was part of the curse to live forever as an animal."
Fitheach Eun: "Hmmm, I still have those old family journals; I will delve into them and see if there is anything that may be beneficial."
Fitheach Eun: "So that dark Fae has the collar somewhere?"
Jaekob Faolan nods, "That is what I am thinking."
Jaekob Faolan: "She was not there when I went so I suppose another journey is in order," sighs.
Fitheach Eun sighs again; " It could be abywhere then and she has all those lovely pets; if you and Saphira left any alive?"
Jaekob Faolan: "We left enough dead, but there are many more."
Fitheach Eun: "Wonderful; will you promise not to go alone again?"
Jaekob Faolan: "I will promise you, yes."
Fitheach Eun smiles sarcastically; " I suppose that is the best I can hope for with you."
Fitheach Eun: "Well let me see what those old journals may contain for us this time; I may not have chosen to follow my family's path but i do not mind using their knowledge if it aids us. "
Fitheach Eun: "I will accept that promise then and you know Fiesty and I would go for you if needed. Do not hesitate to ask."
Jaekob Faolan nods, "Well you are welcome to take the task up, but it needs to be done speedily. And there is no need for subterfuge now as she knows we have been there."
Fitheach Eun considers..." I will bear that in mind and try to find my sister."
Jaekob Faolan: "Well, let me give you your wages while we are talking, " he says going over to his desk.
Fitheach Eun: "I did forget about that..."
Jaekob Faolan begins to count coins into a small pouch and turns offering it to her, "This should be right."
Saphira Mistwalker knocks on the door before entering.
Jaekob Faolan: "It is never locked, do... ah, vedui Saphira."
Saphira Mistwalker: "Oh, you have a guest, excuse me."
Fitheach Eun turns at the sound " Quel undome, Saphira"
Saphira Mistwalker: Vedui' Aran Jaekob, Lady Fitheach
Fitheach Eun: " I hardly qualify as a guest."
Saphira Mistwalker smiles.
Fitheach Eun: "But I am leaving; I have some research to do."
Saphira Mistwalker: "Safe paths and may your research be fruitful my lady."
Fitheach Eun: "Enjoy your evening and fair winds to you."
Saphira and Jaekob |
Saphira Mistwalker smiles. "How fares the cat Lord Jaekob? Well, I hope?"
Jaekob Faolan turns to her offering a small pouch, "The cat is with the young Mages at the Citadel. It's health is precarious at best. I fear if its collar is not found, it will soon perish."
Saphira Mistwalker: "Oh, that would be most unfortunate, especially after our rescue."
Jaekob Faolan: "The Mages are working .... well studying to find something to keep him alive. But, I suppose at some point soon I will have to bargain with the Unseelie for the collar."
Saphira Mistwalker frowns. "I have a feeling that will be a steep bargain. Know you, I will part with some of my hoard if necessary to meet her demands. I am at least somewhat to blame for the carnage in Mirkwood."
Jaekob Faolan: "Oh, no. I am sure their is more than enough in our treasury to suffice buying it from her. Perhaps I should send a messenger with an offer hmm?"
Saphira Mistwalker take a deep breath, a serious look crossing her face. "Aye, that is probably wise. But, I have another concern in all this as well."
Jaekob Faolan: "And that is?"
Saphira Mistwalker: "You know, my cave is on the edge of the water, near to the Shadow Lands. I am sensing ... something, more malevolent than normal from there."
Jaekob Faolan: "It is has been relatively quiet in the Shadow Lands since the Demon was vanquished. Do you........" sighs. "What are you supposing it is?"
Saphira Mistwalker: "I am not sure. I have seen nothing overt, beyond the normal spiders in the evening. But, I feel, someone with ill intent."
Saphira Mistwalker: "Aran, when I arrived here, I believe I told you my clan was looking to improve their image among the younger races, yes? That is why I was sent out as an envoy."
Jaekob Faolan: "My.... er....the Demon had a Drowess companion. But, I had assumed she left long ago. And, yes, that was the intent you told me."
Saphira Mistwalker: "Hmm, it may be the Drowess I am sensing. Given the presence of the Unseelie Fae Windy, and this Drowess, I am thinking I should fly back to consult with my elders. This may be an opportunity for the Shadow Dragons to prove their good intent."
Jaekob Faolan: "Very well. And when do you plan to leave on this journey?"
Saphira Mistwalker bites her lip. "That depends on you in part. What would you say to a treaty with the Shadow Dragons, for the defense of the River Lands? I think my elders might be interested."
Jaekob Faolan bites his lip hard, "I know you well enough to respect such a suggestion from you. Aye, if they are willing, then please put it in action and tell me what I need do."
Saphira Mistwalker: "I would be willing to make a plea to them for a treaty. I will draft a text, and if you find in acceptable, I will carry it back to them and hopefully be back within a fortnight with an answer."
Jaekob Faolan: "That sounds excellent. I will be waiting for you to bring it to me my friend."
Saphira Mistwalker nods formally. "Very well. I will have something for you in a couple of days. Until then, safe paths Aran Jaekob."
Jaekob Faolan: Namaarie, Saphira. "May the rains and storms keep you safe," he offers a small blessing
Saphira Mistwalker: "Thank you, and with you as well my friend."
