Jaekob Chats with Fiesty Lotus

Jaekob Faolan: "Greetings Fiesty, thank you for joining me today for this chat.
Not long ago, you shared insights with our community and blog followers about your character and her motivation."

Fiesty Lotus: "Yes, she reminisced a bit."

Jaekob Faolan: "Fiesty is a hobbit, a merchant and an Arch Druid. Can you tell us how you decided upon your character in the first place?"

Fiesty Lotus: "I have always been a fan of Tolkien and hobbits are the most comfortable fantasy beings in-their-own-skin I have ever  seen. In the past I have had loads of fun making her a productive vendor of foods and a friendly gossip.  At some point the idea of making her a Druid came to my attention. The very idea of a practical, industrious, and fun loving hobbit changing into a meditative, studious Druid was such a challenge. I had to try it."

Jaekob Faolan: "What attracts you to role play most?"

Fiesty Lotus: "The challenge of becoming a character that lives and breathes a separate existence is a wonderful experience, sort of like being in a continual play with no script. I just respond as my character would to situations she finds herself in. The more you play your character – the more you know them and their foibles."

Jaekob Faolan: "You are currently building up your own sim. The community is very excited about this project, tell us a little about it."

Fiesty Lotus: "Oh, it’s tremendous fun. I could never justify paying for a sim until I came to the Great Canadian Grid. I am so grateful to Robbie for creating it.
I suck at terraforming, I would never even gotten started without the considerable help of you, Kat and a few more kind folks. My idea for the huts came from Willow, a long- time friend. There is an entrance to the burrow in the hill with a teleport to a sky-dwelling.  My sim is mostly rolling hills in an agricultural setting. Many of the props are available by simply copying them from other areas. The Canadian Grid folks are truly generous with their inspirations."

Jaekob Faolan: "Where did you get your inspiration for The Shire? Books, Film, Internet, your own imagination?"

Fiesty Lotus: "Oh, if you look online for “Hobbit Shire” you can discover many images about the Shire, some from drawings and some from the original New Zealand movie set."

Jaekob Faolan: "Many people may think that they don't have enough time to join and participate in a roleplay community. Fiesty is a much loved and respected member of our community, although her typist has quite a busy RL. How much time can you spare on average per week in the Lands?"

Fiesty Lotus: "Hmm, well, if you don’t include working on my sim, I’d say, perhaps  three times a week. I try to show up for the group events and then we get together for special role-play events dictated by the storyline.  So yes, you can be an on-going role-player by showing up just a few times a week."

Jaekob Faolan: "What do you look for in a role play community and what do you value most?"

Fiesty Lotus: "I think I care most about the sense of belonging that a role-play situation gives you. People who consistently turn up and contribute to the story become friends, ones you are proud to have.  There are all sorts of people on the web, but to be a committed role-player takes patience, loyalty, and kindness. The community cares for its members and treats them like family."
